Why we use deadstock fabric

Why we use deadstock fabric

At Cìe Atelier we only use deadstock fabrics. But what does that actually mean?

Deadstock fabrics are basically the "remnants" of the fashion industry.
Often, fashion companies order or produce more fabric than they actually use. After the season is over, the fabric is no longer used because it has already ended up in stores and therefore won´t be used for new designs. In the past, most of these fabric remnants were simply thrown away and eventually ended up in landfills. Why not reuse these fabrics from fashion houses with high quality standards for new designs and prevent these fabric leftovers from being wasted?

Using remnants also means that we can get high quality specialty fabrics at a much lower price, as for these brands they are just remnants with very little value. Unfortunately, leftovers mean that the fabric is often no longer available for re-buying. That's why at Cìe Atelier we have designs that are available for years, but in new and different fabrics.
